Morris Dees started a publishing company as a young man and built into one of the largest in the south. At age 33, Morris sold his business in order to pursue his dream. As a brilliant young trial lawyer, he started the Southern Poverty Law Center in Birmingham, Alabama. The primary purpose of this non-profit center is to advocate for equal opportunities for minorities and the poor, and to promote tolerance. He ignored death threats and intense opposition as he successfully sued and weakened hate groups.

Why did you create DivorceDoneRight?
I've spent my career as an attorney and advocate committed to all that it took for me to help the side I was on succeed. Then, my world changed as a result of a contentious, 2 1/2 year divorce that finally ended after less than 2 months of mediation. After that, I was ready for a new challenge. Now, with DivorceDoneRight, my goal is to help both sides win, resolving their divorce in a less painful, less contentious and less expensive way. I know in my heart many families will benefit from what we're doing.

What would you do if you were not starting DivorceDoneRight ?
I’d continue to practice personal injury law, representing catastrophic accident victims. I would finish the fiction novel I started writing last year.
Was there anything in your childhood that indicated you’d be good for this career?
I’ve been a leader and an entrepreneur my whole life. As the third of four kids, I always found myself in the middle of everything. I've never been afraid to get involved and attempt to solve problems for others.
What or who were your early influences in building your career?
I wanted to take over my father’s clothing stores, but my mother and uncle (who was a lawyer) pushed me towards law. They felt I was persuasive, passionate, could champion a cause and was able to articulate my thoughts well. I never followed. I always led.
